IMG_1261There are some Vehicle Wraps that are just more fun than others. Chick-fil-A is a company that has long been well-respected for its core values.  This company, well-known for respecting Sundays as a day set aside for religion and family, was founded by the late owner, Truett Cathy, a dedicated Christian who ran the company as he did his life. Christian values and principles were firmly established as the foundation of this very successful company, which always puts customers and the community first. Chick-fil-A, continuing “to set itself apart by pioneering innovations and delicious products,”* is also well-known for their incredibly successful and creative marketing campaign that uses cows to convince people to eat more chicken instead of, the implied, hamburger.

IMG_1220Our sign studio was excited to help Chick-fil-A with one of their latest van wraps for their unique marketing campaign. Using the vector artwork provided by the Chick-fil-A headquarters in Atlanta, GA, a Cincinnati Custom Signs graphic artist created 3 different design layouts from which the owners of the van could choose, tweak, and then, approve the final project; that was the fun part.

The challenging part of the project was the actual van to be wrapped. It was neither ideal, nor even a recommended vehicle, for a full vehicle wrap. There were a couple of major issues with this van.

IMG_1224First, it was an aging van (10 years old), and the paint was not of the highest quality and was coming up in many locations. Some locations were obvious because they were visibly chipping; other locations were harder to see. Our installation crew scrutinized the van, locating as many areas of loose paint as possible, scraping until we came to secured paint.

The other challenge was that there was vinyl on the vehicle that had been applied many years ago. We were able to use a combination of heat and adhesive remover to remove the aging vinyl to prepare the vehicle for its new wrap.

We used 3M’s premium cast vinyl and laminate printed on an HP Latex 360 printer. The printed vinyl looks great! This vinyl will normally remain in good condition for 5 – 7 years. With this vehicle, the paint on the vehicle will be the concern for long-term adhesion. In the meantime, Chick-fil-A has another cow on the road delivering chicken to their loyal customers!

It was an absolute pleasure working with Chick-fil-A on this project and we hope they enjoy the new look of their vehicle.  If you are interested in mobile marketing through a custom vehicle wrap, be sure to call Cincinnati Custom Signs!
