thumbnail_IMG_1742.JPGThis beautiful sign is an example of how a great graphic designer can make a difference in the look and feel of a sign while keeping a sign within a budget. The owners of Bella’s Restaurant are opening their dream of a lifetime. They came to us wanting the same type of sign as
their competitor on the other end of the block. Once we gave them the price range, they asked us to get creative with lower cost materials. Our designer went to work.IMG_1730

Instead of the traditional aluminum fabricated blade sign with an expensive powder coated paint job which most of the larger chains of restaurants can afford, our designer came up with an innovative way to use layers of lesser cost materials to create a masterpiece sign at 1/3 the price of traditional signage. We started by fabricating a 1” painted steel tube frame. On both sides of this frame we started with a foundational layer of ½” black PVC.

The middle of the sign added a layer of 3MM aluminum composite followed by a piece of ¼” black PVC with the copy of “BELLAS” routed so the aluminum shows through. These layers were bolted to the steel frame using stainless steel bolts and nuts.

The top of the frame added a layer of maroon painted ¼” PVC to the IMG_1227foundational layer followed by the 3MM aluminum which was followed by another layer of intricately routed ¼” PVC. The circle in the middle of this layer was covered with a final layer of ¼” white PVC which was covered with printed vinyl. A final piece of painted 1” PVC was added between the two sides of the sign and 2 stainless steel bolts were added to secure
the 13 layers together.

On top of the aluminum, black acrylic letters were glued with a two-part methacrylate structural adhesive for a long-lasting bond. A final piece of painted 1” PVC was added between the two sides of the sign and 2 stainless steel bolts were added to secure the sides.
