An Enchanting Scene

In a recent project, our team at Cincinnati Custom Signs brought Mad Hatter’s Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience alive in an elegant fashion here in Cincinnati. The project featured a series of handcrafted wooden signs, each designed to reflect the whimsical, storybook style associated with the wizarding world. We focused on natural materials and detailed finishes to ensure the signs had the same magic as the source material.

Crafting the Signs

The signs were built using layered wood construction to create depth and dimension, with each panel precision-cut to achieve its distinctive shape. Raised lettering and decorative elements were fabricated separately and carefully applied by hand, adding a bold, dimensional look to the finished pieces. The wood surfaces were stained and painted to achieve a rich, aged appearance, then detailed with contrasting colors and metallic finishes to highlight the typography and ornamentation. Each sign was sealed with durable, weather-resistant coatings to ensure it would withstand outdoor conditions while maintaining its handcrafted, storybook aesthetic.

Installation

Installation took place on site along the forest walking trail, where each sign was carefully positioned to complement the natural surroundings. The larger gateway and feature signs were mounted to heavy timber posts for strength and stability, while smaller signs were securely fixed using concealed hardware to maintain a clean, immersive look. Special care was taken to ensure proper alignment, visibility, and durability, resulting in signage that feels seamlessly integrated into the landscape while standing up to outdoor conditions.

A Lasting Impact

The result is breathtaking: the black acrylic letters pop against the soft grey backdrop, drawing eyes and hearts to the sacred words. Parishioners have shared how the verses inspire reflection, while the welcome sign invites all who enter. This durable installation will uplift the congregation for years to come.
